I realized that I hadn’t posted here in a while, but I didn’t realize it was almost ten years! I like writing, and I can’t quite figure out why I gave it up.
No matter. I’ll just start again. Since my last post, I’ve gotten a job writing Elixir, and I love it. Expect a blog post about the things I don’t miss from Ruby. And things I like about Elixir.
AI is a thing now. Back in the 1990s, I went to grad school hoping to get into AI. Then I took a two-semester class, and I looked for something else. The results way back then were not impressive, and I didn’t see much hope for any of the research being done at the time. I have different feelings about modern AI, and that’s probably worth exploring.
I also switched this site from Nanoc to Hugo. Was this smart? We’ll see. It was made easier with AI, of course.
I’m also going to move two other static sites that I’ve written from a hosting service called Dathorn Internet Services. The price is pretty good for the basic account ($18.50 per month as of writing), but it’s a true hosting solution for dynamic websites. The sites I have at Dathorn are static. I’m using site44 for this blog, and I can have up to ten sites for just $4.95 per month.
